Welcome to Sandwich Town Cricket Club

Welcome ...

Since 1823 Sandwich Town CC has extended the warmest of welcomes to both players and supporters of top quality cricket. It’s a winning formula that we’re delighted to continue.

As a player you’ll be interested to know that the club fields four successful league sides on a Saturday and two on a Sunday. We also enjoy a full summer of friendly midweek fixtures and indoor league action through the winter. All of this activity is supported by coached training nights and a thriving Junior Section which nurtures the talent that feeds through to our senior squads, the Kent Academy and the occasional England side.

This year we’re very proud that our 1st XI are competing in the Kent Premier League but whatever your playing standard you’ll find a place in a team that suits your experience and approach to the game. One of the secrets of our success is the inclusive spirit of the club. It’s not unusual to find one of our emerging County stars advising the youngest junior member which end of the bat to hold. Likewise our oldest member can often be found enjoying a glass of red and an anecdote with a former Ashes winner. It’s a friendly club.

From the spectator’s point of view, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more agreeable spot to while away a sunny day. STCC’s principal ground is at The Butts which is always open to the public on match days and acts as a social hub for the community. We host events throughout the year mostly held in the comfortable pavilion which benefits from all the facilities you’d expect along with a very convivial bar, satellite TV and a wonderful atmosphere.

A gentle five minute walk leads you to our second ground at Gazen Salts which has been transformed with a panoramic glazed extension and upgraded player facilities. Meanwhile five minutes across the duck stream in the opposite direction finds you at the heart of the most complete medieval town in England. There, along the quirky lanes, amongst the historic architecture, you’ll discover the sort of charming shops and cafe culture that reward a summers stroll.

Whether you’re new to Town or new to cricket, sourcing a memorable venue for your event or just looking to idle away an afternoon in the Garden of England please feel free to call into Sandwich Town Cricket Club - you’ll be very welcome.
